A young woman of Just 28 years of age, Ms Priya Raman, has been elected as the Mayor of the Chennai Metro City!
In the recently conducted local body elections in Tamil Nadu, DMK and its allies have won 21 City Administrations, 1250 Councilors, and in Major City Local Bodies, 4995 Councilors.
Out of the 200 wards in the 21 City Local Bodies, DMK and allies have won a record of 178 wards.165 DMK candidates contested in these Local Body Elections and 153 have won!
As the post of Mayor has been allotted to women in the society this time, there has been a lot of expectations as to who would be the Chennai Metro City’s First Mayor right from the date when elections were announced.
In the history of the 354-years old Chennai Metro City, there has been never a woman as a mayor. As such, the whole of Tamil Nadu agog as to who would be the historically first-everywoman Mayor and that too, belonging to the backward community.
In the recently conducted local body elections, 13 candidates from the Backward Community have won.
As such, Ms R Priya, who won in the 74th Ward in the Chennai Corporation, has been selected as the Mayor candidate.
Priya is just 28-years old and is the daughter of the former MLA of Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar Legislative Constituency!
