It has come to light that many schools in Tamil Nadu have not been using Tamil initials of the students.
In this scenario, all schools including self-financing institutions in Tamil Nadu have been given strict instructions by the school education department now. The schools have been asked to adopt the GO of using Tamil initials of the student names with immediate effect. It is important to mention that the ruling DMK government has made it compulsory for the students to write their names and initials in their school and college leaving certificates plus various other documents in Tamil language. Point is that even while receiving their mark sheets and certificates the initials of the students would also be in Tamil language.
Several schools did not implement the GO to use Tamil language in the initials of the students. This was mentioned by a senior school education official based on the reports issued by the district education officers. To implement the new initiative, a circular has been sent to all the schools. The schools were given instruction regarding the presence of this GO in the notice boards.
In the elementary and in the middle schools, the teachers would be asked to teach the students about the exact replacement of Tamil against English letters. There would be a surprise visit by the educational authorities to check whether the schools have adopted the usage of Tamil initials for the students. There would be awareness created by the district education officers about this.
