The Highways Department of the State Government of Tamil Nadu had given approval for the construction of a Railway Overbridge with the main objective of reducing the acute traffic congestion in the Bus Terminus and the Railway Station in Perungalathur, Chennai Metro City and. The project cost estimation is Rs. 234.37 Crores.
Accordingly, the construction work has been in progress. The Railway Overbridge Construction project has been divided into 4 sections – Chengalpattu-Chennai Overbridge Section. Srinivasa Nagar Override Section, Chennai-Chengalpattu Overbridge Section, East Exterior Raod Overbridge Section.
As of date, around 50% of the project work includes the pillars, the main road, the approach road, etc.
In this scenario, The Minister for Highways of the State Government of Tamil Nadu E. V. Velu undertook the project progress inspection yesterday (Sunday, 12th March).
After inspection, the Minister ordered the project contractor to complete the work on time as per the contract giving due consideration for the Public and the objective of easing the acute traffic congestion.
