Strict order!! Buildings across Chennai to get sealed by GCC for this reason!!

The GCC has got powers to demolish the violated buildings in Chennai!!
This has been proved now. In the last 7 days, GCC has intensified its crackdown and has sealed as many as 11 buildings in the Royapuram zone. The reason cited for sealing by GCC was because of violations in the building plans. From 17th March to 24th March, GCC has issued notices to vacate to the occupants belonging to 125 violated buildings. For other 99 buildings, lock & seal orders have been issued by GCC.
It was later pointed out by an officer belonging to GCC that the corporation officials have been monitoring the buildings with violations across the Chennai city. While constructing the houses, the public must compulsorily adhere to the approved building plans. He concluded that those buildings with violations would be locked and sealed. For availing planning permissions to build 5000 sq ft, the residents can go to zonal offices and they must go to head office to get approval for constructing buildings from 5001 sq ft to 10000 sqft. It must be recalled that the GCC had issued notices to 410 owners of buildings that encroach Ramapuram Lake. Truth is that this action against 410 owners was taken as per the directions of the high court.
