Hypertension is a silent killer and there is now a greater need to address persons with hypertension issues. Under the government scheme, 34lakhs people have been diagnosed with hypertension or high Blood pressure or BP. This was mentioned by the health secretary, Mr. J. Radhakrishnan. On Saturday, 26th March 2022, MGM Healthcare’s Hypertensive Care of Excellence was launched and it grabbed many eyeballs.
During the Coronavirus pandemic non-communicable diseases were neglected and to give more impetus to diagnosis and prevention of such diseases various health schemes like Varummun Kappome and Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam etc were launched by the TN government. Under both these schemes, nearly 55.99 lakhs people have been covered. It is worthy to mention that 34 lakhs of people were found to have hypertension issues.
To provide quality healthcare for the people, it is important that both private as well as the state government must associate with each other. It is said that both communicable as well as non-communicable diseases must be addressed.
It was later brought out by the Managing Director of AG Hospitals Dr. Muruganathan that hypertension was a silent killer and was not given enough focus. It is now said that the Central government must take steps towards initiating hypertension fellowship programmes for the physicians.
It was important to manage stress and this was mentioned by Tamil actor Prashanth who was also the brand ambassador for this centre. Others who made their presence felt were Dr. M. Swamikannu, director & senior consultant, Internal Medicine and Allied Sciences and Dr. Sreevidhya Venkatraman, senior consultant etc.
