What was the cause for the fear in public in Guindy yesterday?

Yesterday, there was thick smoke from fire in a dump in Guindy and this created huge fear in many. From the vacant area behind a star hotel here, thick smoke originated around 3:30 pm in the evening. This was reported to the fire control room by some motorists.
Fire stations in Guindy, Ashok Nagar were alerted and the fire fighting personnel rushed towards the spot in Guindy to put out the sudden fire. Truth is that these personnel initially struggled to put off the fire and after more than an hour they finished their work successfully.
It was later mentioned by an officer belonging to the TN Fire and Rescue Services that adjacent to the cluster of iron shops old transformers were stacked on the ground. It must be noted that the inflammable oil had leaked and matchstick lit by some person thrown on the dump would have caught fire. He concluded that plastic waste below the dump led to the formation of huge smoke.
