Marina Beach would never be the same in the future for this reason!!

Thirty kilometre stretch of Marina Beach would be developed by CMDA and then it would be persuaded for the tag of Blue Flag Beach. It must be taken into note that Blue Flag is a well renowned eco-label given for beaches, boats etc.

Beginning from north Chennai, the 30km stretch on Marina Beach would be developed and an amount of Rs 100 crores would be spent for this. This was pointed out by Mr. S. Muthuswamy, minister for housing and urban development in the Assembly. The main aim behind this would be to make Marina Beach safer for the public. Some time back, Kovalam Beach in Chennai grabbed many eyeballs after it received the Blue Flag Beach certificate.

It is now said that CMDA would be working with the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management. Clearance by the Ministry of Environment and Forests would be needed to develop the Marina Beach.  At some select places along the beach, there would be promenades and piers etc. Information collected is that a feasibility study would be carried out plus a study on the best practices before beginning the work.
