The Chennai city has been reeling under the scorching heat for quite some time. Yesterday, the weather was cloudy in Chennai and the temperatures have come down by 2 or 3 degrees Celsius. This provided huge relief for the residents. Later this week, all is set to change as the cyclonic storm ‘Asani’ would weaken and would come closer to northern AP and Odisha coast.

The cyclonic storm Asani is now 410km southeast of Visakhapatnam and 590km south of Puri in Odisha state. Till Tuesday, the cyclonic storm would move north westwards and reach northwest Bay of Bengal off north AP and Odisha coast. The sky would be cloudy in Chennai and light rains along with thunderstorms are likely to occur in some places. The maximum temperature would be around 35 degrees Celsius in Chennai.

After the Asani cyclonic storm makes a landfall on 12th or 13th May 2022, there would be an increase in the temperatures. This was according to Mr. Pradeep John, weather blogger.

In this year 2022, till now, the maximum temperature recorded was 37.5 degrees Celsius at Nungambakkam and 39.2 degrees Celsius at Meenambakkam. It is now brought out that the temperatures in Chennai would cross 40 degrees for the first time in 2022.
