The health of the public in Chennai would change totally hereafter!!
For construction of health and wellness centres, GCC has identified as many as 140 locations in Chennai now. This was mentioned by the health minister Mr. M. Subramanian on Friday. The scheme was announced by the chief minister of TN in the Assembly last week.
The news is health and wellness centres would come up in busy places like markets, bus stands amidst clusters of TNHUDB settlements for the sake of the public. Across 63 municipalities and 21 corporations as many as 708 health and wellness centres would be set up and this includes Chennai also. An amount of Rs 185.45 crores would be spent for this purpose. An amount of Rs 35.45 lakhs for each of 200 wellness centres in Chennai would be allotted.
The health minister later threw light on how a mammoth amount of Rs 588.94 crores was allotted for improving the health infrastructure in the Chennai city. There would be 69 health and wellness centres in Madurai and 63 in Coimbatore.
Information is that 2000 doctors (Amma mini clinic doctors) who worked during Covid-19 pandemic would be given preference during job recruitment. It is now said these health and wellness centres would function from 8am to 11am and from 4pm till8pm. Point is that local civic officials would finalise the remaining locations for the health and wellness centres. It is brought out that out of 708 centres around 200 centres would be set up in Chennai alone having high population density.
