Corridors closed tomorrow (8th June) at Sri Rameswaram Temple!! Ban on devotees taking holy baths!

Rameswaram is one of the sacred holy spots for the Hindus! Thousands of devotees visit the temple of Lord Ramanatha Swamy to have His Darshan and on festival periods, as a tradition followed for centuries, tens of thousands of devotees gather here to celebrate and pray to the Lord Ramanatha Swamy and His Consort Goddess Sri Parvathavardhini after taking the Holy Bath in the Agni Theertham Sea!

In this situation, this year’s festival of ‘Ramalinga Pradhishtai’ commences today (Tuesday, 7th June) and after 3 days, concludes on 9th June!

The event of the Lanka King Ravana being granted ‘Mukthi’, the event of Coronation of Vibhishana at the Sri Kothandaramaswamy temple near Dhanushkoti on 8th June and the festival of Ramalinga Pradhishtai at Sri Ramalinga Swamy temple on 9th June are to be celebrated with great devotion, pomp, and enthusiasm!

On the occasion of the performing the event of Sri Ramalinga Swami Pradhistai on 8th June (Wednesday), the temple corridors will open early morning at 4.00 AM  and ‘Spatikalinga Pooja and subsequently, ‘Aaru Kaala Poojai’ will be performed.

Lord Rama’s deity will be brogugh to the Rameswaram temple for the occasion of the Ramalainga Pradhuishtai Festival at 7.00 AM. As such, the temple corridors will remain closed throughout the day! Once the function of the coronation of Vibhishana will be completed, the temple corridors will be opened. Once the deity of Swamy is carried back into the temple, the temple corridors will be closed again after the night-time pooja is performed!

As such, it is informed that the temple corridors will remain closed throughout the day on this day. Further, the devotees will NOT be permitted to take the holy baths at the 22 holy ‘therethas’!!
