An additional parking space has been inaugurated at the Koyambedu metro station in Chennai for the sake of the passengers travelling in the metro trains. It must be noted that separate facilities for women are available at this important metro station now.
In addition to those mentioned above, CMRL has also set up an additional escalator, a breastfeeding room and an advanced drinking water facility at the airport metro station. It is now said that these facilities would be extended in other metro stations in Chennai also.
It was later highlighted by Mr. Rajesh Chaturvedi, director system and operations that CMRL has been taking several steps to increase the parking space at various metro stations in Chennai. It is also busy in identifying unused spaces for the parking of 2 wheelers as well as four wheelers etc. It must be taken into note that the work would be completed soon as parking is a very important facility for the passengers. In future, there would be a separate area available for the women to park their 2 wheelers.
It is known that Koyambedu metro station has already got an area of 1500 sq ft to park as many as 800 vehicles. There would be additional parking facilities at other metro stations also soon. At an amount of Rs 1 lakhs, CMRL has also set up an air-conditioned breastfeeding room at the airport metro station in Chennai to help women. Not only that, an escalator worth Rs 80 lakhs and an advanced drinking water facility (converting air to water)of Rs 6lakhs have also been installed at the airport metro station now.
Work is going on now at other metro stations also and these facilities would also come up in other metro stations in Chennai. This was brought out by a source from CMRL. Information is that 36 metro stations would get escalators.
