The academic year 2021-22 has completed and from today 13th June 2022 onwards a new academic year 2022-23 would begin in the schools. The students belonging to the classes 1 to 10 would be making their presence felt at various schools across Tamil Nadu from today onwards.

From this academic year, new additions have been introduced for the students. These include extracurricular and co-curricular activities, physical fitness sessions and a dedicated reading time etc.

It must not be forgotten that in the beginning of 2022 at the Assembly the school education minister made some announcements regarding new additions for the new academic year.

The Coronavirus pandemic has turned things upside down for everyone and students have been affected badly. The mental health of the students has gone down in this pandemic. It is now said that the new classes would focus on the mental health of the students. Every week one hour would be dedicated especially for experience sharing sessions. The class teachers would be talking to the students.

From this academic year onwards, everyday a 20 minute reading session after lunch time has been introduced for the benefits of the students. In 20 minutes, the students could read periodicals or newspapers or books from their school library. Discipline as well as safety of the students has been given more importance now. The physical education teachers must be present atleast 30 minutes before schools begin in the mornings.

It must be noted that the School Education Commissioner and the Director of Elementary Education have mentioned the importance of the early presence of physical education teachers in the schools. Once in a week, common physical education sessions after the school hours were also encouraged. This was made by taking into consideration factors like transport availability and the distance between the school and the house of the student.
