The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has planned to relay and reconstruct 2 more roads in Chennai Metro City just like the Pondy Bazaar (pedestrian Plaza)!
Various projects are being executed in Chennai Metro City under the Smart City projects.
Especially, to facilitate the citizens move easily in the crowded shopping Centres in T Naga Pondthe pavement has been converted into a Pedestrian Plaza!
It has been decided to construct similar pedestrian plazas in several other parts of the Chennai Metro City.
Further, there is a plan to introduce a separate path for cyclists!
As such, Greater Chennai Corporation released the policy of "Non-engine drove transport` last year! As per this, GCC decided to renovate the roads in Chennai of 110 km length! Further, the task of preparing a project report on this was also taken up!
Meanwhile, Greater Chennai Corporation has decided to take up the renovation/modification of 2 roads in the city in the first phase of this project!
As per this decision, M C Road located in the Royapuram Zone, 51st Ward and Khader Nawaz Khan Road, located in the Teynampet Zone, Ward 111 have been marked by the Greater Chennai Corporation for renovation!
Greater Chennai Corporation has further decided that these 2 roads will be modified in the same design as the Pondy Bazaar Pedestrian Plaza!
Greater Chennai Corporation has also been thinking in the line of making one of these roads as `No Vehicles Road` with only cyclists and pedestrians using the Road!
