Here comes a superb piece of news for the residents of Chennai now!!
From Monday onwards, the tourists going to and coming from Mamallapuram can use TTDC hop on and hop off buses to go to several locations enroute. It is learnt that GCC has kept 5 buses ready to run the service specifically for the chess Olympiad and there would be 19 stops. From Madhya Kailash in Chennai, buses would go through Rajiv Gandhi Salai to Sholinganallur junction. From here, buses would take the ECR in Chennai.
The bus facility would run for every hour and it would be free of cost and the buses would stop at SRP Tools, PTC Quarters, Dakshinachitra, Muttukaadu and Thiruvidanthai etc. This was mentioned by Mr. Sandeep Nandhuri, MD of TTDC. He added that more people would be visiting Mamallapuram for the chess Olympiad and the free bus services would be there till the end of the chess tournament. It is noteworthy that GCC has planned to buy more buses to implement the hop on hop off buses permanently.
In the future, the temple town would have tourist friendly autos also as GCC would be launching it. It was brought out by Mr. Sandeep Nandhuri that training has been given to the drivers and decorating their vehicles for easy identification. These vehicles would not overcharge and they would be available even after the Chess Olympiad gets completed for the sake of the tourists.
More drivers in Mamallapuram would be roped in and training would be provided. This was according to a tourist guide in Mamallapuram.
