In the future, those couples who are intending to get married at the temples in Chennai and TN need not go to the Revenue department for getting certificates!!
Till now, for conducting weddings at the temples, couples need to submit their first wedding certificate from the Revenue department and this was considered important by the HR & CE department. This would not be there in the future and HR & CE department said that the couples interested in getting married at the temples would have to submit a certificate claiming they were not married from e-seva centres.
It was later brought out by a source from HR & CE that earlier the couples had to get certificates from the village administrative officers or VAO or from the local tahsildars office stating that it was their first marriage. These officers would then send personnel to the houses of the couples to check the addresses of the applicants. To make the process much easier, e-seva has been brought into the loop.
It was revealed by Mr. Sekar Babu, minister for HR & CE that only those couples who were Hindus and Indian nationals were given permission to get married in the temples. He added that the couples must submit certificates like address proof, ID proof, Aadhar card, first wedding certificate that was replaced by unmarried status certificate. It must be taken into account that if divorced or if the first spouse is dead then documents regarding these must be submitted by the couples who want to get married in the temples.
