An important issue in Chennai Corporation schools now!!

Lack of teachers in the schools run by the Chennai Corporation has been the subject of discussion for many now. There are now 3800 teachers available for 281 corporation schools in Chennai and that is insufficient as these schools have more than 1.07 lakhs students. The GCC hasn`t taken any decision regarding posting new teachers.

To identify major issues affecting the school education, the school education department officers have begun conducting micro level meetings. This was after a review that was conducted by the GCC Commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Singn Bedi. Teachers have been asked to start counselling sessions for parents and this was mainly done to improve education.

It must be noted that more than 55 of 1.07 lakhs students studying in GCC schools have not attended their physical classes at the schools and this was due to the fact that their parents shifted to new locations as they were daily wagers. It is learnt that some students have even shifted to other parts of the state.

For continuing the education of the students, GCC has been taking lots of efforts is known. Yesterday, the teachers visited the houses of students to check whether they needed any help to continue their studies. Truth is that students belonging to north Chennai zones like Tondiarpet, Royapuram etc have irregular attendance. It is worthy to note that the teachers have been asked to find out the reasons and submit a report. This week, a survey conducted for those students who have dropped out of the schools would get over.

It was mentioned by a teacher that they would check how many parents have returned to their natives. He then spoke about how after the survey any major economical reasons for migration would be known. Point is that welfare measures would be introduced to help the parents educate their kids.
