Great News: No issue of drinking water shortage in Chennai!! Veeranam Lake is full and brimming!!

The citizens of Chennai Metro City are elated! Reason: Veeranam Lake is full and brimming!

Veeranam Lake is located in Kattumannarkoil in Cuddalore District! Veeranam Lake is the main water resource in the district! It provides a lifeline for the agriculturists in the area. Apart from this, the most important point to note is that IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WATER RESOURCE FOR THE CHENNAI METRO CITY CITIZENS!

The depth of this reservoir is 47.50 feet! As drinking water is supplied from this lake to Chennai Metro City, the water level of the reservoirs is reduced gradually! In this scenario, the Mettur Dam got filled a few days ago. More than 1,10 Lakh Cft (Cubic feet) of water was let out from the Mettur dam.

This water let out from Metter Dam reached the sea via the Kollidam River. The water let out from Mettur Dam to Kollidam River reached the Lower Dam (Keezhanai). The excess water was let out via Vadavaru to Veeranam Lake. With this inflow of water, the water level in Veeranam Lake came up gradually!

As such, the water level rose to 47.50 feet – Veeranam Lake was full up to the brim! Water is taken out to Chennai Metro City at 65 cft per second.  As the Veeranam Lake is now full to the brim, the local agriculturists are delighted. The officials informed that there is no question of any drinking water shortage in Chennai Metro City!
