From 28th July to 10th August, Chess Olympiad would be taking place in Chennai.
The Prime minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi would be participating in the opening ceremony that would be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. In this opening ceremony, several men as well as women chess players from many countries and special guests etc would also be taking part.
The Greater Chennai Traffic Police department has made some elaborate arrangements now.
From afternoon 12 till 9pm in the evening today, there is a possibility of traffic congestion along Raja Muthiah Road, EVR Road, Central Square, Anna Salai up to Spencer`s Junction and its surrounding areas etc. In this regard, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police department has mentioned that in case of necessity vehicles would not be allowed from Demellows Road junction till Raja Muthiah Road. Vehicles would not be allowed from EVK. Sampath Road, Jeremiah Road junction till Raja Muthiah Road.
It is noteworthy that commercial vehicles would not be allowed to ply from EVR Road Gangureddy Road Junction, Nair Bridge junction, Gandhi Irwin Road Junction towards Central.
Commercial vehicles coming from Broadway would be diverted to Moolakothalam through Kuralagam, Thanga Salai, Walltax Road. These vehicles can use Vyasarpadi Bridge or flyover to reach their routes. It was mentioned that those persons who have to go to central must plan their itinerary in advance.
