What is deepavali without sweets and savouries?
It is a well known fact that people celebrate deepavali (the biggest festival in TN) with sweets and savouries etc along with new clothes, crackers etc. Aavin would be making hay during this deepavali festival in Tamil Nadu.
Aavin is aiming for Rs 200 crore sales for this upcoming deepavali festival in TN. For this, Aavin has started marketing of sweets by devising a multi pronged strategy. By this plan, Aavin would be able to sell more than double its sweets and savouries during deepavali.
According to an officer belonging to TN Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (that owns Aavin brand) it was confirmed that normally thrift societies and a few companies have been the consumer base for Aavin. He added that this time Aavin would be approaching IT firms and larger companies.
Modified atmospheric packaging:
Another official belonging to Aavin spoke about how this time modified atmospheric packaging would be used to improve the shelf life of the sweets. This would keep the sweets fresh. Point is that normally Aavin manufactures sweets at the last minute and due to the heavy rush some orders would not get completed on time.
Butter murukku and special mixture would be produced by Aavin this time for deepavali along with the usual Kaju katli, ghee badusha, moti pak etc. This was as per the senior officer of Aavin. He hinted that this time the people would not have issues of going to other places for buying savouries as savouries would be added to the menu. He revealed that those persons who want the base for making sweets could register with the nearby Aavin parlours 2 weeks in advance.
Integrating manufacturing facilities:
In 2021, for deepavali, Aavin sold sweets worth Rs 82 crores. It is learnt that Aavin has taken steps to integrate manufacturing capacities of all its dairies. There would be simultaneous manufacturing of sweets and the pattern of production and distribution is being changed for Deepavali festival. Example is if the Salem unit makes Khova, then Erode unit would make mysore pak.
