The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in 16 districts.
In a notification released by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre regarding this, it is mentioned:
"Due to the cyclonic format in the lower layers of the atmosphere over Tamil Nadu, there are prospects for mild to medium rain in 1 or 2 places in Tamil Nadu, Pudhhcuhery, and Karaikkal.
There are prospects for heavy rains in 1 0r 2 places today (Friday, 19th August) in the delta districts, Cuddalore, Ramanathapuram, Theni, Dindigul, Ariyalur, Trichy, Karur, Madurai, Virudhunagar, POudhukkottai, Sivagangai and Karaikkal.
As regards Chennai Metro City, it will remain partly clouded in the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the city. The maximum temperature will be 35036 Degrees Celsius and the minimum will be 27-28 Degrees Celsius.
For fishermen
High-speed winds at 40-50 kmph and intermittently at 60 kmph are likely to blow across the South Bay of Bengal, Tamil Nadu coastal areas, and Kanyakumari Ocean.
High-speed cyclonic winds are likely to blow at 45-55 kmph in the Northern Andhra coastal areas,
As such, fishermen are warned not to enter the sea.
