Sudden decision by the Central Govt - A Single Charger for all the electronic devices!!

For charging all the electronic devices using a single charger, the central government has decided to form an expert committee. Sound`s incredible right!!
People these days use various electronic devices like android phones, iPhones, tablets, laptops etc and they require many chargers. The 2 main disadvantages of several charges are increase in the electronic waste plus adding cost to the consumers. Now, the central government wants to avoid many chargers and have decided to bring a single type of charger Type C for several electronic devices. To put this plan into action, the central government is taking steps.
Policy for such a project has been formulated in the USA and Europe etc and the central government wants the same in India too. For that, it has asked the industrialists to explore various possibilities.
A meeting took place recently and it was chaired by none other than Mr. Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, consumer affairs. It was decided in the meeting that an expert committee would be formed to examine the possibilities of bringing in a single charger.
It was later brought out by Mr. Rohit Kumar Singh that India holds an important place in the production of chargers. He added that before taking any decision regarding developing a single charger for all the electronic devices it is necessary to have the opinions of various industrialists plus others like customers, manufacturers etc. These people have accepted the need to eradicate electronic waste now. Various important personalities who took part in this meeting were manufacturers of the electronic devices plus industrial associations, technical bodies etc.
