Today, 25th August, Chennai suburbs received heavy rains and it surprised the residents. Some localities in Chennai city also received heavy rains today. On Wednesday night, many places belonging to Tamil Nadu received light to moderate rains and it would intensify into heavy rainfall in the next 2 days.
The movement of westerly winds and cyclonic air circulation formed near the coastal regions would bring light rains in Chennai. The sky in Chennai would be partly cloudy. Some areas in Chennai would get light to moderate rains with thunderstorms.
On Wednesday, the district of Nilgris received the highest amount of rainfall of 7 cms and was followed by the districts of Ranipet and Krishnagiri with 6 cms each.
There was moderate rains in the night in districts like Dharmapuri, Salem, Thiruvannamalai, Thirupathur, Erode, Namakkal and, Coimbatore etc. It is mentioned that the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 35 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.
