In most parts belonging to Tamil Nadu, the month of August might end on a rainy note!!
This week, there would be widespread rains and thunderstorms and this was predicted by IMD or Indian Meteorological Department. It is worth mentioning here that nearly 22 districts including those on the Western Ghats have got chances of isolated heavy rains today, 29th August.
Information gathered is that TN had received 37.4cm rainfall and that is 83% excess for the season. There is still a month for the SW monsoon to end officially. Till the weekend, there will be wet weather across TN. Rains would be there because of a trough from south AP to TN coast.
The state of TN, Puducherry, and Karaikal would get light to moderate rains in many places. There are chances of isolated rains in northern parts of TN and Western Ghats district would get isolated rains till Wednesday morning. Till Friday, some southern districts and delta districts would get rains.
It must be taken into account that for the last 24 hours till 8am in the morning Rasipuram in Namakkal district received the highest rainfall of 20 cm. On Monday, till 5:30pm, many places like Udagamandalam, Coonoor, Tiruttani, Coimbatore and Velappanchavadi near Chennai received light to moderate rains.
Till Wednesday, Chennai would get thunderstorms in some localities. On Monday, in places like Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam etc the day temperature was below the normal. Point is that in the SW monsoon skies would become clear days after the patch of convective cells moved over the city.
