The corridors of the Sabarimala Lord Sri Ayyappan temple are scheduled to be opened this evening (Friday, 16th September) on the occasion of the beginning of the Tamil Calendar month, `Purattasi`!
It is traditional to open the corridors at the start of the Tamil Calendar month for 5 days and perform special Poojas and prayers apart from the usual Mandala pooja and Makara vilakku poojas.
As such, the temple corridors of the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan Swami are to be opened for the occasions of special poojas to be performed with the start of the Tamil Calendar month Purattasi at 5.00 PM today evening (Friday, 16th September).
Melsanthi Parameswaran Namboodri is opening the corridors in presence of the Temple Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru.
Following this, special Poojas and prayers are to be performed for 5 days ending on 21st September.
During these 5 days, the temple corridors will be opened at 5.00 AM. Nirmalaya Darisanam, Ganapathy Homam, Usha Poojai and Ucha Poojai will all be performed. After this, the temple corridors will be closed at 1.00 PM. These corridors will be opened again next morning at 5.00 AM and Deepaaradhanai Abhsidhekham will be performed.
Subsequently, Harivarasanam will be sung / chanted at 8.30 PM and then the temple corridors will be closed!
