There is a sewage treatment plant at Nesapakkam in Chennai that is 48 years old. This sewage plant is making amazing news now!!
It is known to us that this sewage treatment plant has a capacity to treat 23 million litres of sewage per day. German based technology would be used to renovate this sewage treatment plant.
On Thursday, 22nd September 2022, a MOU was signed between the municipal administration and water supplies department and the representatives from German Water Partnership.
There were talks between Mr. K.N Nehru, the municipal administration minister and with the representatives like Hannes Spieth CEO, senior scientist Marc Beckett etc. There were several government officers present also during the discussion.
To conform to the new pollution control standards, STP at Nesapakkam must be renovated. In 1974 this STP was built is known. Point is that there are plans to increase the capacity of this STP to 50 mld.
