From the present 110kmph, the SR or Southern Railways has increased the maximum permissible speeds to 130kmph now and by this the travel time between Chennai and Gudur in Tirupati would be reduced.
It is now said that once the new time table for implementation of increased speed comes into effect consequent to the speed upgrade, those passengers going to Andhra Pradesh destinations, New Delhi, Howrah, Mumbai etc would have a reduced travel time. After successfully completing a trial run of high speed, the SR has taken the important decision of enhancing the speds from 110kmph to 130kmph on the Chennai Central - Gudur line.
It must be noted that during the high speed trials the special train formation covered the 134km stretch between Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Central and Gudur MAS-GDR in just 84minutes. At that time of trials, GM of Southern Railways Mr. B.G. Mallya was also present.
