Tamil Nadu State Minister for Public Health, Selvavinayakam, informed us that activities are being expedited to check and prevent the fast-spreading Dengue fever in Tamil Nadu!

With the intensity of the raging coronavirus spread having come down considerably, the spread of dengue fever is now spreading fast!

In this year 2022, 2915 citizens have been affected by Dengue fever from January to July. In August, it was 481 and in September, it is 572 and thus it has been an increasing trend!

The Medical Experts observe that with the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season, the Dengue fever spread may intensify further!

In this regard, the Secretary of the State Department of Public Health of the Tamil Nadu State Government, Selvavinayakam, shared:

"As it has already started raining, the breeding of ATS mosquitoes which thrive under pure water will increase considerably. As such, the intensity of Dengue spread will be higher in the next 2 months!

All-out activities have been undertaken to prevent this Dengue spread jointly with various other departments with a whole-hearted effort!

The district administration has been informed to organize medicine camps in the required places. There is sufficient stock of Dengue medicines with the state government.

The mosquitoes breed in places where there are open-air cement tanks, open water tanks, broken potteries, manual grinding sets, plastic cups, coconut shells, buckets, and tyres where there is stagnant water or rainwater!

As such, wherever these items are accumulated, these MUST be removed and the concerned area cleaned to prevent mosquito breeding!"
