The Deepavali festival is round the corner!!
Many passengers would be carrying firecrackers in the trains and to prevent that SR or Southern Railways has intensified the checks now. It is worthy to note that SR has formed special teams to seize the firecrackers from the passengers and from the parcels at the stations.
It is true that SR has been intensifying the checks every year during Deepavali festival to prevent firecrackers being carried by the passengers on the trains. Information is that carrying inflammable and explosive articles is a punishable offence.
As per the Railway Act 1989, those persons who carry firecrackers in the trains could be punished with upto 3 years of jail terms or fine up to Rs 1000 or both. It must be taken into note that the Chennai Division of SR has appealed to the public to alert railway helpline 139 if they find anyone carrying firecrackers.
