George Town belonging to north Chennai is one of the highly congested localities with many shops present. Now, the civic body has urged both the public as well as the shop keeper here regarding the disposal of the waste.

The 7 dust bins present here are always overflowing with garbage and in addition the public dump waste in the roads here creating a huge mess. The sanitary workers are always busy here and they collect garbage every day.

According to a commuter, the public were unable to walk freely in the locality due to the garbage dumped on the roads. Next to the trash can , the residents keep the over items. She explained that the streets look messy with waste all over till the sanitary workers come and clean the roads. The presence of many wholesale traders here has been the major reason for the lack of neatness here.

The plastic waste floats in the rainy season leading to drain blockage and this often creates issues like water stagnation etc. Open defecation worsens the situation that is present in this important locality. The pollution by the locals would be there till the civic authorities take strict action against the concerned persons. It is shocking to mention that the shopkeepers and the residents here do not give waste to the sanitary workers but just dum on the roads.

As per a resident from Kothawalchavadi, the shopkeepers must not litter their garbage everywhere as they desire. Truth is that this activity of the shopkeepers has been overburdening the Chennai Corporation staff.
