The Department of Public Health of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has informed that 4806 citizens have been affected by dengue fever!
With the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season, it is feared that the number of persons affected with dengue fever will continue to increase!
As such, the Department of Health has emphasized that all the districts must expedite the preventive actions to check and stop this spread of dengue!
Joining with the local administration, the district administration must undertake mosquito removal activities and also activities for creating awareness among the public regarding this!
As regards the current year 2022, 3396 persons have been affected with dengue fever from January to August! In September, 572 persons were confirmed with dengue fever.
In this scenario, in October, the number of persons affected has been 616 – an increase of 10%! Doctors inform us that this is likely to go up further with the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season!
In this regard, Dr Selvavinayakam, Director of the Public Health Department, shared:
"The extent of dengue spread will be high throughout the State of Tamil Nadu for the next 2-3 months! All-out efforts are made to implement full-fledged activities jointly with other Departments to check and prevent the spread of dengue!
An order has been issued to the Districts deploying the field health workers who were used for Corona Virus Pandemic Prevention for the Dengue prevention activities as well.
The State Government of Tamil Nadu has sufficient stock of medicines for dengue fever!
Officials have earnestly monitored the residential complexes, schools, colleges, shops, marriage halls, cinema theatres, and residential areas! Action is being taken to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes in these places!"
