If the traffic in the mornings at Vandalur has been an issue for many motorists, then at night the issue of absence or lack of lighting on the flyover at Vandalur pose issues!!
Now, the flyover in Vandalur in Chennai is making news now for the wrong reason. The Cyclone Vardah or Vardha Puyal that showed its true nature a few years back did not spare the flyover at Vandalur and this has come to light now. The lights present on the flyover were damaged after the cyclone and due to this the motorists have been finding it difficult. The shocking information is that even now the lights have not been repaired.
Many people travel to places like Padappai, Oragadam, Walajabad, Kancheepuram etc and to make their travel smooth and easy a flyover was built in Vandalur in 2013. The flyover was of huge advantage for these commueres as they were able to avoid the heavy traffic congestion at Vandalur.
Inspite of many complaints given by the public regarding lights here, no action has been taken until now. This has been frustrating many here. A regular male commuter mentioned that it was very tough to use the flyover in the nighttime as the lights have not been functioning properly.
It was later revealed by a female commuter that she used to wait for her office cab in the night at the Vandalur flyover. She added that the area was insecure as it was dark without lights. She hoped that the officers would take the necessary action and rectify the issue of lights here.
As per a regular commuter it was confirmed that in the mornings the heavy traffic congestion at Vandalur has been creating issues for the motorists while in the night time the darkness on the flyover has been an issue for many.
