With heavy rains predicted in Chennai and in other districts like Kancheepuram, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam etc, those persons involved in the rescue operations work become very busy!!
The State Disaster Rescue Force or SDRF has been kept ready now to do the rescue operations in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam districts etc. This was highlighted by Mr. Sylendra Babu, DGP. It is important to note that SDRF are also be used for community capacity building and awareness generation programmes within the state.
In various districts in TN, warnings about heavy rains have been issued and SDRF is ready to engage in the rescue operations. As a precautionary measure, 4 teams belonging to SDRF have been sent to Chennai,Kancheepuram, Cuddalore and Nagai districts. To take part in the rescue operations during the floods in Chennai etc, a 30 member team of swimmers from TN police dept and from TN Coastal Guard group are ready along with their rescue equipment at the police headquarters now.
In the same way, as manya s 60 swimmers belonging to commando units of TN Coastal Guard group are ready to do rescue operations in other parts belonging to Tamil Nadu. It is noteworthy that many volunteers belonging to the fishing communities in the coastal districts are ready with boats for the rescue operations.
An order has been issued to all the city police commissioners and district superintendents etc to keep all the police dept ready to help the rain affected people and to engage in the rescue operations.
