Going to the library to read books has become a thing of the past now for many students and children etc!!
Over the last few years, the growth of technology has been immense is a well known fact. Now, for the sake of developing the reading habits of the students, the School Education Dept has joined hands with the Directorate of Public Libraries. The superb piece of information is that VR or virtual reality devices have been introduced in the 76 libraries in TN now. This new project announced by CM in 2022 would be helpful for one lakh students every year. In addition, the public visiting the libraries could use these VR devices for learning.
Under the Directorate of Public Libraries, 76 libraries operate in Tamil Nadu is known. At the rate of 2 virtual devices per library, as manya s 152 VR devices have been provided now at the libraries in the state for the students. It is learnt that 155 librarians at the libraries where the devices are present have been given full training regarding how to use these VR devices.
It is worthy to note that with the help of this superb technology the students would be able to see and understand many subjects like astronomy, deep sea, dense forests, biology, body functions etc superbly. It was mentioned by a librarian that VR technique would make the students and others close to the subjects they read and this would keep them engaged.
At Lalgudi in the Trichy district on 29th October 2022,the school education minister opened a VR library for the students and kids and it grabbed the attention of many. Now, VR facilities are present across all the libraries in the state. In the libraries present in the Ashok Nagar and in the Bharathidasan Salai in Chennai, VR facility is available now.
