For the next few days, the weather in Chennai and in TN would be cool and Chennai, Puducherry, Karaikal and northern parts of TN would receive rains. Now, Chennai and its neighbourhoods have become little bright as there is not much rain.
It was brought to light by some officials from IMD that the low pressure area or LPA over the central parts of south Bay of Bengal has turned into a depression over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. It is worthy to note that the LPA has moved northwestward and is now 580km east of Baffna, 600km east of Karaikal and630km southeast of Chennai. According to the officials it might continue to have its intensity and move west north westwards towards north TN-Puducherry and south AP coast in the next 48 hours.
There is likely to be heavy rains on 21st November in the isolated places belonging to Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Villupuram, Ranipet districts in TN and Puducherry. There might be light to moderate rains with lightning and thunderstorms in southern parts of TN. It was mentioned that there would be heavy rains in the districts like Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Ranipet and Vellore districts on 22nd November.
The weather in Chennai would be generally cloudy in the next 48 hours and moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms and lightning would take place in some places. The maximum temperature would be 38 degrees Celisus and minimum temperature would be 22 to 23 degrees Celsius. This was mentioned by an official. From 20th to 22 November, fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea as the sea would be rough at southwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal. In the last 24 hours till 8:30 am on Sunday, 20th November, Kuzhithurai belonging to the district of Kanniyalumari received the highest rainfall of 2cm.
