Jeremiah Road in Vepery in Chennai was buzzing with activities on Tuesday.
A trial run was conducted by Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC using a jetpatcher to patch up the spots on the above said road. After conducting adequate studies and analysis, the jetpatcher could also be used in other areas in Chennai. To maintain the surface of the roads, car parks and to repair potholes, a jetpatcher is a cost effective method. It is a simple 4 step process and it provides a long lasting and effective solution to the issue of potholes.
It must be noted that by using a blower the machine would blow all loose debris and water from the potholes. By this, the pothole would become clean and dry and it would be patched afterwards. To prevent the pothole from any further damage, it is coated with bitumen emulsion. It is worthy to mention that an aggregate of bitumen would be used to fill up the potholes.
Lastly, the excess aggregate would be removed and smoothening over the pacth would be done to make it consistent with the road level. As per an officer from GCC it was clear that this innovative patching solution is the best permanent solution to the pothole issue.
