Super news!! New FOB to come at the important location linking Adyar, Guindy and Saidapet etc in Chennai!!

Pedestrians crossing the Anna Salai-Chinnamalai junction in Chennai have been finding it difficult and to help them the TN govt would be constructing a foot over bridge or FOB near the AG Church at Chinnamalai. It must be noted that the already existing FOB on the Taluk Office Road with escalators, lifts and ramps to help the differently abled persons.
It is now said that the proposed new FOB would be replacing the existing pedestrian crossing near AG Church which is an important strategic location connecting localities like Asdyar, Guindy and Saidapet. In the first stage, a detailed project report or DPR would be prepared and for that the state Highways dept has floated a tender to appoint a consultant.
It is noteworthy that many commuters cross this road and traffic signals are present between pier 18 and pier 19 of the metro rail structure. There is another FOB located about 100m from the proposed one now. According to an official from the state Highways department, the commuters and pedestrians have not been utilising the present FOB now. He added that to overcome this issue a new FOB has been proposed to link with the existing FOB with escalators and stairs. This would make the FOB more user friendly and would maximise pedestrian usage.
People from Anna Salai who need to access the bus stop and the Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Taluk Office Road would be benefited with FOB with escalators. Information is that the FOB would be differently able persons friendly and there would be ramps for lifts for climbing up & down the FOB. The safety of both pedestrians as well as the vehicle users has been taken into consideration to provide a FOB here. It must be recalled that a subway was proposed here some time back and now this new FOB would replace the subway.
