Don`t be surprised if you have to spend Rs 21000 as airfare from Chennai to Delhi now for this Christmas festival!!

The airfares have increased unimaginably now. The people would have to spend a huge amount of money to buy air tickets if they wanted to go to any holiday destination for Xmas and New Year. Point is that for traveling on this Saturday for the Christmas festival to places like Mdurai, Coimbatore, Tuticorin, Kochi, Goa etc, passengers would have to spend more than Rs 10000 as airfares now. For travel on 30th of December to these places, airfare would be more than Rs 8000.

Information collected is that for traveling on Saturday for Xmas the air fare to Madurai would be Rs 11000, Rs 8000 to Rs 16000 for Coimbatore, Rs 12000 to Rs 14000 to Tuticorin, Rs 16000 to Rs 18000 to Kochi, Rs 11500 to Rs19000 for Goa, Rs 7000 to Rs 10000 for Mumbai etc. It is really shocking to note that traveling on Saturday for Christmas to Delhi would cost Rs 9400 to Rs 21000.

It was revealed by some travel & tour operators that it was not an extended weekend but many people would be going on a holiday to select destinations as per their budget. This high airfare would be difficult for those people who plan their travel trip at the last minute and for those who shift to air travel due to cancellation of trains etc.

To make most of the demand now, airlines have kept their airfare slabs high. It is known that there is no regulatory body to manage the airfares.

Increase in the airfare has been a trend in every festival season and this was according to mr. Sriharan Balan belonging to Madura Travels. Based On their budget, people book flights in advance and choose a destination. He threw light on how now many people prefer going to Sri Lanka as the airfares were competitive or the same as that of domestic airfares. It is true that instead of trying for a domestic destination many now prefer travelling to Sri Lanka.

The fewer flights now when compared to the pre-Covid days have led to an increase in the airfares now. There are many airlines that use less manpower now than in the past. Planning a holiday just a few days before is not easy now. It is learnt that the supply is less now but the demand has become more.
