King Institute at Guindy in Chennai is buzzing with lots of activities suddenly!!
It is learnt that atleast 150 international passenger`s blood samples have been sent to the State Public Health Laboratory at King Institute in Guindy. The main purpose of sending the blood samples was to identify the variant by genomic sequencing if the samples tested Covid-19 positive.
It is learnt that on a daily basis atleast 2 to 4 international passengers have been testing positive for Covid-19 now at the airports across TN. This was mentioned by Dr P. Sampath, Joint Director, Directorate of public health and preventive medicine. He threw light on how random RT PCR testing of 2% of the international passengers has been going on now. Passengers from countries like Thailand, Japan, China, Singapore, South Korea etc are being subjected to RT PCR testing.
For the international travellers to India, it is important to take the pre-departure RT PCR test compulsorily that would be done 72 hours before undertaking the flight journey.
