There has been a delay in effecting the change of tariff from commercial to domestic and lack of clarity regarding the name change and due to this many electricity consumers in Chennai are unhappy. They have complained about this.
For the change of tariff, the required amount of fees has been paid but still the application was not processed by the local Tangedco section office. This was brought out by a consumer from Mogappair in Chennai. From the date of receipt of application from the consumer, Tangedco must effect the tariff change within 7 days. This was according to the Tangedco regulation.I
The consumer explained that inspite of submitting the application on 15th December, the application was not yet processed. It must be taken into account that several consumers who wanted to change the name of their domestic connections to link their Aadhaar with service connection numbers have been facing issues like mandatory submission of the application online only.
According to a consumer from Kolathur in Chennai, he went to the special counter to submit his application for the name change of the domestic connection. He added that the officers at the counters did not accept his applciation and have asked him to submit the application online. For online submission of the application, he was directed to a private e-service centre and Rs 200 was charged for that work. He concluded that the physical application must be accepted by the Tangedco and they must scan their applications on their own.
