Normally, many people would be going to their native places for the Pongal festival from the Chennai city to celebrate the festival with their families and friends etc.
The news is that this time around 46000 have already booked their tickets in the government buses from Chennai to go to various places in the state.
It was mentioned by some higher officials belonging to the transport dept that Pongal festival falls on 15th January 2023 that is Sunday. Many people who are staying away would be going to their native places from 13th January or from Friday onwards. As a step forward, the transport dept has decided to run special buses from 12th January itself to transport those who will be going to their hometowns. On that day, there would be 651 special buses plus 2100 regular buses.
On 13th January, along with the regular buses there will be 185 special buses also to carry the people. On the next day on 14th January, as many as 1943 special buses would be operating.
Point to be noted is that 46000 people have already booked their tickets in the govt buses that would be operated from Chennai for 3 days. Booking has been going on now continuously. Booking of seats in the govt buses is facilitated through tnstc app and through www.tnstc.in website also
