A notification has been released by the Religious Endowment Administration of the Lord Sri Ayyappan Temple in Raja Annamalai Puram (R A PURAM) CHENNAI Metro City:
"In the Lord Sri Ayyappan Temple in R A Puram Chennai Metro City which is regarded as "Vada Sabari" (North Sabarimalai temple), on the occasion of Makara Jothi, the temple corridors are to be opened and will remain open from 1st January until 19th Januae=ry.
The devotees who observe penance for the Occasion of Makara Vilakku Pooja carrying `Irumudi` can climb the 18-steps of the temple entrance to the Sanctum Sanctorum of Lord Sri Ayyappan and watch the `Ney Abhishekham` (showering of clarified butter on the idol of the Lord Sri Ayyappan) from 6.00 AM until 12.00 Noon during this period!
On the day of the Pongal Festival, 15th January, Makara Jothi Darisanam and special Poojas are scheduled to be performed from 6.00 PM!
As such, during the period of Makara Jothi, the temple corridors will be open from 5.00 AM to 12.00 Noon and from 5.00 PM until 9.00 PM.
We appeal to the Public to visit the temple along with all family members and watch the special sacred occasion of Makara Jothi and pray and seek the blessings of Lord Sri Ayyappan!
The arrangements for the sacred festival are being organized by the administration presided by the President of the Religious Endowment Board of the temple A. R. Ramasamy, Secretary Rama Veerappan, and Treasurer A. R. Meyappan."
