Latest details about the area sabhas postponement in Chennai!!

On 26th January 2023, area sabhas of GCC were planned originally but they have been postponed now. This was mentioned by GCC. It was pointed out by some officers belonging to GCC that area sabhas might take place in February month and a resolution to this effect is expected to be adopted in the 30th January council meeting.
On 22nd December 2022, delimitation of area sabhas was made available to the public, there were some complaints regarding missing streets. There has been a delay in tbe nominations for the ward committees by the councillors and it resulted in the postponement of area sabhas.
It must be noted that after the delimiter of area sabhas residents as well as the civic activists have been awaiting the area sabhas. Point to be noted is that a resolution was planned to be adopted in the council meeting in the December month. For holding the area sabhas, the officers from GCC will be appointing staffs at the ward levels as area sabha secretaries. On Thursday, a group of women from TNUHDB redevelopment site in Perumbakkam, submitted a safety mapping report at their gram sabha meeting. Areas within the resettlement site that were unsafe for women were highlighted by the report.
