As per the order by supreme court, revised auto fares have to be submitted within Aug 26th,2013. Auto union leaders, public representatives and government officials are discussing in this regard. Auto union leaders wanted to fix Rs.30 for 2 Kms and Rs.15 for every additional kilometer. However public representatives have shown interest to fix Rs. 25 for 2 kms and Rs.11 or Rs.12 for every additional kilometer.
These rates are subject to change when there is an increase in the petrol and diesel rates . Once the rates are finalized , it will be sent to the Chief Minister Ms. J Jayalilatha for approval. 70,000 autos run in Chennai and both autorishaw men and public are interested and anticipating to get the new revised rates.
