The GCC officials have hinted that the work on the restoration of Mambalam canal would be completed in June.

It is now mentioned that once the restoration of Mambalam canal gets over then the flooding in T. Nagar etc would get reduced. The GCC officials revealed that they would be implementing better designs of canals near the Adyar river plus engineering solutions with innovations etc.

The corporation council in the month of July passed a resolution to revive the Mambalam canal restoration project and dropped proposals of bicycle tracks, a shared pathway, a park and fixing of top slabs etc. It was explained by an officer from GCC that the harsh lessons learnt from the 2021 NE monsoon has resulted in shifting of focus from beautification to flood mitigation in T. Nagar.

Some of the proposals like electrical work, landscaping work for a distance of 1.75km at an estimated cost of Rs 5.5 cr from Vidyodaya Main Road to Theyagaraja Road etc were dropped.

Point to be noted is that green buildings on the Ripon Buildings premises would be completed in June month. The green buildings would have an innovation hub and service centre for the residents of Chennai.
