TANGEDCO - Huge increase expected now in the thermal power generation in Chennai and TN!!

With the under-construction 800 MW north Chennai Thermal Power Station Thermal Power Plant Stage 3 to start its trial production by May, the thermal power generation of TN would be boosted. It is a huge project worth Rs 8722 crores and till now more than 95% of the works have been completed. This was according to Tangedco.
The sources from Tangedco mentioned that the crucial works for the boiler light up would also get completed soon. This would mark the starting of the thermal plant operation. Transmission line work is likely to get over. There were some problems regarding the pumps that have been installed for the deck floating operation. Pump manufacturers would soon be addressing the issue. This was according to an official from Tangedco. He mentioned that out of 3 pumps two would be operated during the turbine operation and one would be back up.
This would be the first 800MW supercritical power plant from Tangedco. The state of TN`s ever increasing demand for power would be met by the commissioning of the new power plant in north Chennai. The work on the ash handling plant and coal handling plant has been going slowly. Two superb companies like BGR Energy Systems Pvt Ltd or BGRESL and BHEL have executed this project.
Engineering and procurement contracts for the boiler, turbine and generator were given to BHEL and rest of the plant and civil related works were given to BGRESL. In January 2016, the work on the superficial thermal power plant began is known.
