Modernisation of 18 railway stations like Park, Mambalam, Guindy etc in Chennai division!!

The Southern Railways or SR has revealed its plans now!!

Point is that SR would be modernising as many as18 railway stations in the Chennai Division. It is well known that the railways dept has been taking measures to improve the railway stations in India and provide world class facilities in the railway stations. In this regard, work on upgrading railway stations in 6 railway lines of SR has been going on. Initially, steps have been taken to modernise 9 railway stations.

It is now brought to light by SR that 18 railway stations in the Chennai Division would get modernised. Now, the feasibility study for modernisation of railway stations in places like Central, Avadi and Tambaram railway stations has been going on. There are plans to make entry and exit facilities in these 3 stations separately  just similar to the airports.

There are also plans to modernise railway stations in places like Chennai Beach, Park, Mambalam, Guindy,Parangimalai, Guduvanchery, Chengalpet, perambur, Ambattur, Tiruvallur, Arakkonam, Gummidipoondi, Sullurpet, Thiruttani and Jolarpet etc.

In the first phase, roof  elevated platforms, dedicated lanes for pedestrians, well planned parking, well designed signboards, improved lighting etc would be installed in the railway stations.

The Railway officers have expressed their thoughts regarding the modernisation of the stations. They spoke about how the comfort of the passengers was very important. For this, elevators, escalators, toilets, waiting rooms etc would be renovated. Important necessary facilities would be provided for the differently abled persons. 

The officers then mentioned that free internet, advanced passenger information system, executive lounges and business spaces etc would be created at the railway stations.The entrance at the railway stations would be improved so that the passengers would be able to come and go easily. They concluded that the roads would be widened and unnecessary structures would be removed also.
