The shocking piece of information is that out of all the airports across India the airport in Chennai is the one that ranked number one loss making airport. The revenue generated by each airport across India for 2021-22 has come out.
In the list of airports that have generated revenue loss for 2021-22, the Chennai airport has been ranked one. The Chennai airport has generated a revenue loss of Rs 189.85 crores. In the previous FY, the Chennai airport has made a revenue loss of Rs 278.63 crores.
In the last January, as many as 12380 flights have come to Chennai airport and about 17lakhs passengers travelled in these flights. It has been decided that in 2024 the number of passengers would be increased to 5.5 crores and 65 flights would be operated for one hour.
It is noteworthy that all the airports in TN have been operating with revenue loss only. The revenue loss at Coimbatore airport was Rs 28.51 crores, the revenue loss at Madurai airport was Rs 41.2 crores. Rs 5.61 cr loss in revenue was reported at Salem airport and revenue loss of Rs 19.17 cr at Trichy airport.
