Kilambakkam, the site of Chennai`s upcoming third bus terminus, is set to become a hub of development. The state government has proposed linking the area with Metro rail and a new suburban railway station.
Ministers PK Sekar Babu and T. M. Anbarasan recently inspected the construction of the new integrated bus station, which will occupy 88 acres and house 2,350 buses, including private omnibuses, at a cost of Rs. 315 crore by Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).
The new railway station will be built between Vandalur and Urapakkam railway stations, opposite the Kilambakkam bus stand, and will be connected by a 450-metre skywalk with walkalators, lifts, and other facilities.
Ministers PK Sekar Babu stated that efforts are underway to ensure that the bus terminus will be ready for public use in the near future.
