PM Modi to Inaugurate Newly Built Integrated Terminal at Chennai Airport

The Chennai airport is all set to welcome the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on March 27 for the inauguration of the newly built integrated terminal. The first phase of the terminal has been completed at a cost of Rs 2,400 crore, covering an area of 2.36 lakh square meters.
Once operational, the new terminal is expected to increase the passenger capacity from 2.2 crores to 3.5 crores per year. The completion of the construction work is near, and machines for handling passengers` belongings, speedy checking, and dispatch of baggage have been installed and tested last week.
The inauguration of the terminal by the Prime Minister is a significant event and highlights the government`s commitment to upgrading airport infrastructure across the country. Sources report that PM Modi would be reaching Chennai after attending a few functions in Madurai.
