Ramadan is one of the most important festivals celebrated by Muslims. It is celebrated every year on the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. Before celebrating this festival, Muslims observe penance. Ramadan`s penance commences each time the crescent (part of the moon) appears in the sky.
In this situation, Salauddin, the Chief Khaji of the State Government of Tamil Nadu, has released an important notification regarding the Ramadan festival. The notification mentions:
"On the year Hijri 1444 in the month of Shaban on the date of 29th evening, the crescent (part of the moon) for the month of Ramadan was NOT visible in Chennai and the other districts.
As such, it has been fixed that the 24th of March 2023 (Friday) is the first crescent of the month of Ramadan. So, Shabe Khadar will occur on the night between 18th April (Tuesday) and 19th April (Wednesday)!"
